They’re at it again
The Associated Press is running a story on a federal court decision handed down today that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools was declared unconstitutional by a federal judge ruling in the second attempt by an atheist to have the pledge removed from classrooms. The man lost his previous battle before the U.S. Supreme Court.
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates school children's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."
The ruling by Judge Karlton was in – get ready – The Democratic Socialist People’s Republic of San Francisco. Why am I not surprised?
I am not an atheist, nor am I a bible thumping, flag-waving hyper-conservative. The religious issue in this case means little or nothing to me here. I just see this is yet another move by a hyper-liberal body of people to trample and shred any institutions of our democracy. To them, patriotism is a sign of weakness and should be destroyed at any opportunity. While I believe that people have a right to not believe in God, it angers me that they want to take that right away from me.

I understand where you're coming from re. the maintenance of your constitution. I would however just like to make two points. the first is that your constitution was written to uphold "the Establishment" the belief systems that sustain a heirachy "as above and so below" format. The jealous God and the paranoid ruler of the day have indeed sustained themselves. I agree that the point of the legal caase to remove this is a public attempt to fracture not the constitution itself but the paradigm that maintains it. If for example the judgement was passed and the constitution changed the door would be thus forward opened. If you see this is repeated, only successfully, by the GWB administration with the "Patriot" act and it's incursions upon the constitution. This ushers in my second point. Patriotism. this was previously understood as patriotism to state and thus God . It quickly revealed itself to be patriotism to the whims of the "Rulers" and specifically the armies of the rulers. To be a patriot was to hold blind faith in your leaders and thus God herself. Oscar Wilde remarked upon patriotism as "..a virtue of the cruel" indeed today to be a patriot is not to your fellow countrymen but to your governments edicts. Perhaps if Patriotism to truth was an upheld virtue men would fear their own acts of deceit and the consequenses. If however you've got a populace infested with flag bearing blindly led cattle what's their to fear when they are carrying your weaponry in your name and following your intent. Check mate as usual. Big appreciation of your work my friend ...just wondered why you missed out the so obvious motif of the diamond (the uncapped pyramid) that surrounds the S of superman.
